Groundhog Day!

If you love non-fiction, have I got the author for you! Gail Gibbons! She has written dozens of books on all kinds of topics: holidays, animals, jobs, and more. Her pages are colorful, include helpful diagrams, detail the background, and then fill us in on the present status of the subject. If there is a fancy vocabulary word in the book, she finds a clever way to teach it to you.

I read Groundhog Day! this week. Having grown up in Pennsylvania, I was familiar with Punxatawny Phil, but never knew the history of the holiday. I then was able to learn more about the creature itself, its home, its naughty habits, and how it adapts to its northern environment.

Giggle from beginning to end as you read about his side of the story when he brings Super-Mega-Gonzo Glue to school. If you enjoy this book, there are five others available!
