Twelve year old Heidi lives with her mentally challenged mother and an adjoining neighbor in Reno. She's unsure of her birthdate, her mom calls herself So B. It, anxiously wants to figure out what soof means, and she wonders if she has any family who can help her piece things together. She finds an old camera with a roll of undeveloped film and puts together a starting point. This leads her on an adult-free cross country trek to get some answers.
