This historical fiction story is about an Indian girl named Karana. Her peaceful life is interrupted by the arrival of Russian hunters who go to war with her people and leave the quiet village in shambles. Alone, Karana must learn to take care of herself and her native survival skills are drawn from having watched the men of the tribe.
