Margaret Peterson Haddix is one of my favorite science fiction writers. She always comes up with a unique science fiction story that doesn't seem all that far fetched. In Among the Hidden you will read about Luke and his challenges in future America. Food has become so limited that the government has required families to only have up to two children each. Having a third can result in arrest, imprisonment, or worse. The Population Police force third children to hide, preventing them from meeting other kids, going to school, and leading "normal" lives. Luke accepts this life until one day he notices a girl secretly peaking out a window across the way...
